Luxury Operator Regent Seven Seas' Seven Seas Voyager Emerges from Refit

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ 700-guest Seven Seas Voyager emerged from dry dock yesterday (9-19-2011) with elegantly renovated suites and public areas, completing the third phase of the ultra-luxury line’s multi-phase, fleet-wide Seven Seas Signature initiative. The ship is currently on a 10-night cruise from Piraeus to Venice .

As part of the ship’s makeover, new ultra-plush carpeting was installed throughout the entire interior of the ship; 26 top suites were refreshed with new wallpaper, fabrics, curtains, décor and art pieces. In addition, Penthouse and higher-category suites have been equipped with iPads and selected suites also received new upgraded balcony furniture.

Several enhancements were also made to the ship’s elegant public rooms. The popular pre-dinner cocktail spot, Voyager Lounge, features new drapery and furniture, including sofas, armchairs, stools and tables, while new Turkish carpets bring added elegance to the Conoisseur Club. On Deck 11, refurbishments to the pool area include an updated Pool Bar and expanded Pool Grill, and marble-edged corridors that now lead guests to new wood flooring in the Observation Lounge. The ship’s popular La Veranda restaurant has new chairs and wallpaper and the coffee bar on Deck 5 has been expanded to accommodate demand.

As announced previously, enhancing the culinary experience was also a key element of Phase Three. Menus in Compass Rose were expanded with select items from the Signatures and Prime 7 specialty restaurants, as well as a greater emphasis on dishes from the regions visited.

Regent Seven Seas Announces 2012 Summer Collection of Cruises

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is now accepting reservations for its summer collection of cruises, taking place April through November 2012 to the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, Canada and New England. UPDATES Regal Empress and Seven Seas Voyager

Here is an update to some of our previous articles.

Regal Empress - As per our earlier posts, the Regal Empress, which was withdrawn from cruising for Imperial Majesty Cruise Line, earlier this month, has been sold for scrap. The ship was sold for just over $3.073 Million dollars. She proceeded to the Bahamas, where she will be offloaded of miscellaneous items and prepared for the final voyage to India. She is anticipated to depart Freeport in the Bahamas on March 28th.

The Seven Seas Voyager, which had her propellers entangled in fishing nets, will need to be dry docked to have her pods serviced. The ship, which is on her world cruise, skipped calls at Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, after the inspection in Cochin, India uncovered the extent of the damage. Once arriving in Dubai, the ship will be dry docked and the pods repaired. Regent Cruises is hopeful the ship will be able to resume the next leg of her cruise as scheduled on April 1st.

Regent's Seven Seas Voyager Caught in Fishing Nets.

Regent Cruise today announced that the Seven Seas Voyager, is sailing at reduced speed after having her pod propulsion system damaged by fishing lines/nets.

Shortly after leaving Singapore last week, a large amount of fishing net and wire were tangled in the ship's propeller, preventing it from spinning and causing the engine to shut down.

Upon arriving in Phuket, divers removed much of the tangled lines, but this did not remedy the situation. The ship is currently on it's way to Cochin where she will be met by engineers from the pod manufacturer to determine the extent of the necessary repairs.

At this point, it is unclear, if the ship will be able to operate the balance of her world cruise on the published schedule. More will be learned after the inspection.

Regent Cruises remain optimistic the ship will be able to continue her published itinerary. The Seven Seas Voyager is midway through her 115-day world cruise which began in California on January 12th.
