Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection Exterior Glass Shower

Celebrity Cruises' New Celebrity Reflection Suite Features Exterior All Glass Shower.
Celebrity Cruises' New Celebrity Reflection Suite Features Exterior All Glass Shower.
Celebrity Cruises' fifth and final Solstice Class ship the Celebrity Reflection, is now sailing weekly Caribbean sailings from Miami. The 126,000 ton ship has a few new tweaks and additions.

Perhaps the newest addition getting the most attention is the 1,636-square-foot Reflection Suite, and it's all glass shower. You may say so what about a shower? - but the shower is all glass, which extends off the side of the ship. The shower glass, with the flick of a switch, can be changed from transparent to translucent so you can see out but others cannot see in. In addition, there is an automatic sensor setting which will automatically fog-up the glass if you should forget to click the switch.

High up above the ship, even those without a fear of heights may get a little woozie.

The Celebrity Reflection carries 3,030 passengers and offers an upscale experience.

Celebrity Cruises Employees Named Godmothers of the New Celebrity Reflection

Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection - Employees to be Godmothers
Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection - Employees to be Godmothers
Celebrity Cruises is marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month in a particularly unique and meaningful way: Richard D. Fain, Chairman of Celebrity Cruises and Chairman & CEO of parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL), and Celebrity’s President & CEO Michael Bayley today revealed plans to honor four employees – two who work aboard its ships, and two in its corporate offices – as Godmothers of Celebrity Reflection, the fifth in its five-ship Solstice Class series.

Like the Godmothers of every prior Solstice Class ship – all with remarkable life achievements, including overcoming breast cancer – the cause is of great personal interest to the selected employees. The Godmothers of Celebrity Reflection are:
  • Jovanka Goronjic – Jovanka joined Celebrity Cruises’ AquaSpa staff in 2009, after previously working with Celebrity’s sister brand, Royal Caribbean International. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, and endured several rounds of treatment. In tribute to her mother and the cause, Jovanka donated her hair for the creation of wigs for cancer patients. With support from Celebrity, she arranged time off to be with her mother at critical times during her treatment. Her mother has since defeated the illness, and Jovanka now is AquaSpa Manager on Celebrity Constellation.
  • Megan Mathie – Megan is a glassblowing artist in the Hot Glass Show aboard Celebrity Solstice, and previously performed the same role aboard Celebrity Eclipse. Earlier this year, she was informed that both her sister and mother were diagnosed with breast cancer, and flew home to spend time with them. However, both convinced her to return to the ship to continue her work. Determined to support the cause, Megan and her team now host a “Hot Pink Glass Show” on every cruise. There, she shares her story with her audience and through her art, in honor of her sister and mother. At each cruise’s end, she auctions a one-of-a-kind pink glass creation to raise funds for Celebrity’s charitable partner, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.
  • Helen O’Connell – An eight-year employee of the company, Helen manages Community Relations, and has a clear and contagious passion for serving her community. She is widely lauded internally and externally for leading the corporation’s annual “G.I.V.E. (Get Involved, Volunteer Everywhere) Day,” and events leading to it in South Florida and in many of the company’s offices and ports of call around the world. Helen also serves as the corporation’s primary liaison with Make-A-Wish Foundation and supports Celebrity’s fundraising activities for BCRF. Before being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, she traveled to New York every weekend for three months to help care for her father, who was battling bone cancer. Helen is known for always putting others’ needs ahead of her own, such as volunteering with numerous organizations in South Florida and caring for her sick aunt in Ireland, while also making her work a top priority.
  • Rosey Rodriguez – A 17-year employee of RCCL, Rosey is manager of the company’s Special Events team and recognized at Celebrity for being a key contributor to planning and implementing the events surrounding every Solstice Class ship launch. She is a devoted single mother of two children, Joey, 21, and Alexis, 15. On June 8 of this year, she was diagnosed with stage-3 breast cancer, and has since been resolute in her commitment to beat it. While many women would legitimately take short-term disability at this stage, Rosey instead takes her laptop to treatments to allow her to work remotely. Her colleagues say this is entirely in character, as she puts everyone and everything – including her work – ahead of her own desires. She is considered a dedicated leader of her team, admired employee of the company, loving mother and selfless individual.
“The breast cancer cause is one we’ve adopted across the Celebrity brand, and one with deep meaning for each of these women and their four predecessors,” said Fain. “These ladies are not only inspiring in their professional lives, but in their personal lives, as well, with each of them devoted to their own and our company’s interest in doing all we can to find a cure for breast cancer.”
“These impressive women personify the qualities we admire among our Solstice Class Godmothers: remarkable strength and courage, along with optimism, warmth and genuine care for others,” said Bayley. “They beautifully represent countless other women within our company and around the world who have battled the disease or supported the cause in honor of friends or family who have done so.”

Celebrity Cruises’ support of the cause began in 2008 with an event on Celebrity Solstice to raise funds for breast cancer screenings for low-income women. Next, the brand sponsored the first “Celebrity Sunwalk” in association with Walk the Walk, a breast cancer charity founded by the Godmother of Celebrity Equinox, Nina Barough. And last year, Celebrity became an official corporate partner of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), offering Celebrity’s guests the opportunity to make a difference while enjoying their vacation through a unique lineup of onboard experiences that help raise awareness and funds for BCRF.

Celebrity is showing its support of the cause even further this month through multiple initiatives, including an integration and cruise auction featured in Bloomingdale’s “Big Pink Book,” with a percentage of sales benefiting BCRF; a sweepstakes to win a cruise with a $1,000 donation to BCRF in the winner's name; a "pink" home page takeover of Celebrity’s web site,
www.celebritycruises.com, and relevant content on its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/celebritycruises, throughout the month; a donation to BCRF of $2 for every  “Excite the Senses” lifestyle book sold onboard and online; pink-hued emails to customers; “Starring Crew Week” honoring Celebrity’s crew across the fleet with special events to raise funds for BCRF, and events engaging and educating employees at Celebrity’s headquarters. All of this complements the continuation of the year-around activities supporting BCRF: “Celebrity Freedance” and the auction of works of art created by glassblowing artists from The Corning Museum of Glass at the Hot Glass Show on Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Eclipse.

The four Godmothers of Celebrity Reflection will preside over the naming of the ship in Miami on December 1, and consistent with Celebrity’s Solstice Class tradition, will be joined by the Godmothers of each of Celebrity Reflection’s sister ships.

Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection Departs Meyer Werft Shipyard

Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection
Celebrity Cruises New Celebrity Reflection
On September 17, 2012 Celebrity Cruises’ highly-anticipated Celebrity Reflection left the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and is sailing to the North Sea. The 1,047-foot long, 121-foot wide vessel crossed the Ems River in about 10 hours – an amazing feat, considering the scale of the ship and the geography of the shipyard required the Captain to steer the ship backward, assisted by tugboats fore and aft.

Preparations for the transit – known as “the conveyance” – include removing power lines and railway tracks that normally pass over the river, to allow the ship to pass through. The journey must take place when wind conditions are calm and at high tide to ensure ample depth of water in the river to prevent the possibility of the ship scraping its multi-million-dollar paintwork.

Thousands of spectators lined the river to watch and enjoy the conveyance. Traveling at less than four miles per hour, Celebrity Reflection joins four award-winning Solstice Class sister ships which have made the same complex journey prior to officially entering service. Following sea trials and the completion of finishing work while in Emshaven, The Netherlands, Celebrity Reflection will host an invitation-only preview sailing before embarking October 12 on her first cruise from Amsterdam.
Celebrity Reflection boasts a number of industry firsts, including AquaClass Suites, Signature Suites and the ultra-luxurious Reflection Suite - the first to include a glass shower extending out over the edge of the ship. The ship also will feature designer boutiques, Celebrity’s signature specialty dining venues and glamorous main dining room, and expanded AquaSpa by Elemis experiences.
After presenting vacations from Amsterdam to Belgium and France to Barcelona, Celebrity Reflection will cross the Atlantic Ocean to arrive in Miami December 1 and depart for its inaugural Caribbean sailing December 5, following invitation-only promotional sailings. The sleek, new ship will offer guests a series of seven-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries roundtrip from Miami, Fla.

Celebrity Reflection to Offer Additional Suite Amenities

Celebrity Cruises - Celebrity Reflection to Add High End Amenities to Suites
Celebrity Reflection to Add High End Amenities to Suites
Vacationers who love a rich array of luxurious services and amenities have always enjoyed an indulgent experience while sailing in any Celebrity Cruises suite. And now, the “suite life” on Celebrity – already offering one of the industry’s broadest array of luxury amenities – is even sweeter. In addition to one of Celebrity’s most idolized suite offerings – modern, 24/7 butler service that has consistently yielded rave reviews – suite guests now will enjoy an even broader list of services and amenities, including the Celebrity eXhaleTM bedding program, with premium mattresses, 100% Egyptian cotton linens, and plush duvets and pillows; BVLGARI luxury bath products; dual iPod/iPad docking stations; reserved theater seating, and an upgraded “welcome” bottle of Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine, complete with a commemorative label featuring exclusive artwork from ArtCenter/South Florida artists.

“Expanding our already broad slate of suite amenities is yet another outgrowth of Celebrity’s deep understanding of how rare and meaningful vacation time is for our guests, so we’re laser-focused on offering the absolute best ways for them to escape from their everyday routine and feel totally relaxed and re-energized,” said Celebrity’s Senior VP of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. “Vacationers investing in suites expect – and deserve – a luxurious experience with a generous host of premium services and amenities, which we’ve always been devoted to delivering. And now, we’re thrilled to enhance their experience even further, with additional amenities that match their lifestyle and reflect our modern luxury ambience.”

The new amenities enhance the inclusive premium services and privileges already provided in every category of suites across the Celebrity fleet, beginning with Celebrity’s European-trained butlers, who offer assistance with unpacking and packing, arranging in-suite dining and afternoon tea service or espresso from CafĂ© al Bacio, shoeshine service, and assistance booking spa treatments, shore excursions and specialty dining. Additional services and amenities include priority boarding and debarkation, priority boarding of tenders ashore, one complimentary dinner for two (on 7-night itineraries) or two dinners for two (on 8-night or longer sailings) in one of Celebrity’s specialty restaurants, priority selection of dining time, spacious verandas, Hansgrohe showerheads, use of plush Frette bathrobes, oversized 100% cotton bath towels, a pillow menu, fresh cut flowers, daily fresh fruit platter, and a complimentary tote bag.

“We continue to hear from guests who’ve sailed with the leading all-inclusive luxury lines that Celebrity’s suite experience is just as spectacular, and represents an even better value,” said Lutoff-Perlo. “And just wait until you see the suites we’re introducing on Celebrity Reflection!”
The new categories of suites debuting on Celebrity Reflection in October of this year will feature even more amenities to suit the personalities of each suite category and the guests within them:
  • Celebrity’s jaw-dropping, two-bedroom, 1,636-square-foot “Reflection Suite” with 194-square-foot wraparound veranda will feature what sketches alone are already creating buzz among consumers and press: a fully glass-enclosed – including glass floor and ceiling – shower room extending out over the edge of the ship, offering breathtaking, 360-degree ocean views, a rain showerhead and heated bench seat. The industry-first shower isn’t the only area of the suite offering stunning views: the Reflection Suite also will feature 10-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding door, and include a grand piano, dining room table, wet bar, and choice of a complimentary bottle of vodka, scotch or gin with accompanying mixers, all in addition to Celebrity’s existing slate of suite amenities.
  • Celebrity’s new 441-square-foot “Signature Suites” debuting on Celebrity Reflection also will boast stunning views of land and sea via 10-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding door leading to a 118-square-foot veranda, and will complement the host of previous and new fleetwide suite amenities with a whirlpool on the private veranda, which is also associated with the “Celebrity Suite” category across the fleet.
  • Guests vacationing in Celebrity’s new “AquaClass Suites” can enjoy the additional services of a personal Spa Concierge to arrange AquaSpa treatments; exclusive access to the Mediterranean-themed specialty restaurant, “Blu”, along with AquaClass stateroom guests; complimentary access to the Persian Garden and Relaxation Room; five-head Hansgrohe shower tower; fog-free bathroom mirrors; custom-blended bath products; aromatherapy diffuser, and on-demand wellness programming on the in-stateroom network, including meditation and yoga.
