Disney Cruise Line Expands 2012 Home Ports Including Los Angeles, Alaska, New England Canada, Europe, Hawaii and More.

(Sept. 22, 2011) – Based on an overwhelming response to its first Hawaiian itinerary, Disney Cruise Line is adding a second Hawaii cruise to its 2012 schedule. The addition of a second Hawaiian voyage complements a diverse array of Disney Cruise Line itineraries departing from the West Coast, including cruises to the Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coast and Alaska.

With a majority of its West Coast sailings originating from the Port of Los Angeles or the Port of Seattle, a Disney family cruise vacation is more accessible to guests from the western United States.

“We listen to our guests, and shortly after we announced our first Hawaiian voyage it was clear our guests wanted more options to visit Hawaii,” said Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz. “This second sailing to Hawaii is part of a wide variety of Disney Cruise Line vacation options for families in 2012 including new itineraries, regional homeports and the debut of our newest ship, the Disney Fantasy.”

2012 Los Angeles Schedule

Two Hawaiian Sailings…

For the first time, Disney Cruise Line will offer two special voyages to Hawaii from Los Angeles, calling on Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai; Honolulu, Oahu; and Hilo plus Ensenada, Mexico.

The 15-night Hawaiian itinerary, which includes nine days at sea, departs April 29, 2012. The newly-added 14-night Hawaiian itinerary, with eight days at sea, departs Oct. 14, 2012.

The Disney Wonder will sail through the breathtaking beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, where guests can experience the famous beaches of Waikiki on Oahu, see the views from high atop the summit of Haleakala Crater on Maui, take in the lush tropical gardens and waterfalls of Kauai and, on the Big Island, explore the natural wonders of the world’s most active volcano.

Rates for the Hawaiian cruises start at $1,800 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.

Mexican Riviera…

The Disney Wonder is scheduled to sail seven-night Mexican Riviera cruises from the Port of Los Angeles for the majority of the year – throughout winter, spring and fall.

Rates for the seven-night Mexican Riviera itinerary departing from Los Angeles start at $707 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.

The Disney Wonder will also sail four seven-night Pacific Coast cruises from Los Angeles (on Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7), calling on San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico.

Rates for the seven-night Pacific Coast itinerary departing from Los Angeles start at $770 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.

2012 Seattle Schedule

Beginning May 28, 2012, the Disney Wonder will sail a total of 14 seven-night cruises from the Port of Seattle to Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, and Victoria, British Columbia.

These cruises will combine the natural wonder and adventurous spirit of Alaska with the unparalleled, family-friendly experience found on a Disney Cruise Line ship. Disney Cruise Line works closely with Alaskan tour operators to create exclusive-to-Disney family-friendly Port Adventures that allow guests to best experience Alaska’s natural beauty and rich history.

On their Alaskan adventure, guests can explore magnificent glaciers and fjords in Juneau. In Ketchikan, they can fish for salmon and learn about local culture through hand-carved totem poles. In Skagway, Disney Cruise Line guests can traverse panoramic landscapes by railway, or pan for gold like miners from the famous Klondike gold rush.

2012 Galveston Schedule

Beginning Sept. 22, 2012, the Disney Magic will sail 12 seven-night cruises from the Port of Galveston to the Western Caribbean, calling on Grand Cayman and Mexico’s Costa Maya and Cozumel.

A Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic offers families a tropical getaway with world-class entertainment and impeccable guest service found only on a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Guests will enjoy three magical days at sea to explore all of the fun aboard the Disney Magic and three days in port to lounge on warm, golden beaches, to swim and snorkel in azure waters or to shop in exotic marketplaces.

2012 East Coast Schedule

Sailing from New York …

Beginning May 25, 2012, the Disney Magic will sail a total of 20 cruises from New York – including eight-night cruises to the Bahamas and five-night cruises up the New England coast to Canada plus two-night cruises that will give a sampling of the Disney Cruise Line experience over a weekend:

Eight eight-night Bahamas cruises will include a day at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay; Nassau, Bahamas; and Port Canaveral, Fla., with an opportunity to visit the nearby Walt Disney World Resort.

Nine five-night cruises up the New England coast will call at Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Saint John, New Brunswick.

Three two-night cruises (June 15, July 13, Aug. 10) are perfect for a quick weekend getaway.

Disney Cruise Line Get Conde Naste Honors

Disney Cruise Line has been recognized as the No. 1 cruise experience at the Annual Readers’ Choice Awards for Condé Nast Traveler magazine in New York City.

Known as the leader in family cruising, Disney Cruise Line took the top honors in the Mega-Ship category, which is part of the magazine’s annual readers’ survey that recognizes the best in travel for resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies.

Samantha Brown, renowned travel expert and television host on The Travel Channel, presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz at the awards gala in New York City.

New Ships, New Itineraries

These awards come as Disney enters the final stages of construction for one of two new ships, and begins to more formally expand itineraries to new destinations. In 2011, the Disney Dream will sail three-, four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas from homeport, Port Canaveral, Fla. The Disney Magic will continue sailing seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises, before returning to the Mediterranean for another summer of itineraries in this region. The Disney Wonder will begin 2011 by repositioning to the West Coast of the U.S., sailing seven-night Mexican Riviera cruises from the Port of Los Angeles, while spending the summer sailing first-ever Alaskan itineraries from Vancouver.

New Ship -- Disney Dream
In addition to all of the features Disney Cruise Line is known for, the Disney Dream will have several new notable innovations for guests to enjoy.

• AquaDuck, a first-of-its-kind water coaster, is an exhilarating, high-speed thrill ride that combines all the ups and downs of a roller coaster with all the twists and turns of a water slide.
• Virtual Portholes offer a “window” to the world for inside staterooms, with a real-time view outside the ship where high-definition cameras feed live video to each stateroom.
• Enchanted Art immerses guests in Disney storytelling and looks like other hanging art pieces around the ship, but is actually a framed LCD screen with technology that recognizes a guest is present.

Based in Celebration, Fla., Disney Cruise Line has received over 50 distinguished awards and recognitions from the travel industry, since first setting sail in 1998. New Disney Dream Innovations Revealed.

(March 30, 2010) – Adding to its impressive list of
cruise industry firsts, Disney Cruise Line will combine
technology-infused innovations and imagination to create a whole new
level of magical experiences for families sailing on its newest ship,
the Disney Dream. Throughout their cruise vacation, guests will
encounter unexpected magic – such as a restaurant that transports guests
under the sea, artwork that magically comes to life and youth clubs
filled with immersive gaming environments and personalized character
encounters.

Disney Cruise Line partnered with Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative
force responsible for designing Disney theme parks and resorts
world-wide, to develop new forms of family entertainment for the Disney
Dream. New experiences planned for the Disney Dream include:

Animator’s Palate
For the Disney Dream, Disney Cruise Line is re-imagining a fan favorite
from the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder – Animator’s Palate restaurant.
The restaurant design is that of a classic animation studio filled with
character sketches, maquettes (three-dimensional character models),
paint brushes, colored pencils and other tools of the animation trade.
Scenes and characters from popular Disney•Pixar films adorn the walls.

Once the dinner service begins, however, the dining room begins a
magical transformation as scores of wall-mounted LCD screens switch to
scenes of a vivid undersea environment. It’s as if the restaurant was
transported to the ocean floor and the LCD screens are windows,
providing incredible views of a colorful coral reef and creatures that
reside on the reef.

While dining, Crush, the surfer-dude sea turtle from Disney•Pixar’s
“Finding Nemo,” makes a special appearance, swimming around the
restaurant and engaging in live impromptu interactions with guests.
Crush will ask guests about the experience onboard the ship and in turn
answer questions about life under the sea. While Crush is moving
throughout the restaurant, other characters from “Finding Nemo,” such as
Nemo, Dory, Squirt and Bruce the shark, swim by and visit with guests.

The dining experience culminates with a surfing lesson led by Crush as
the EAC (East Australian Current) swirls around the room. As Crush swims
away, other characters from “Finding Nemo” make a final appearance
before magically turning into pencil sketches.

Interactive Play-floor
For young cruisers, Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab
will feature an interactive play-floor, a cruise industry first that
blends the latest in gaming technology with Disney’s panache for
storytelling. Located in the main gathering space in both venues, the
interactive play-floor allows children to engage in team play exercises
where their movements control the action on the interactive floor. For
example, one activity has children scrambling around the perimeter of
the interactive play-floor with their movements controlling the pitch of
a virtual tilt maze.

On the interactive play-floor, children will be able to explore a wide
variety of gaming options with varying levels of difficulty. Disney
Cruise Line youth counselors will use the interactive play-floor during
storytelling activities where children will be able to fly over the
streets of London with Peter Pan or ride the ocean waves with Crush.

Living Characters
Also in Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab youth areas,
Disney characters come to life and interact with children in
one-of-a-kind experiences. On a 103-inch screen, Crush, the animated sea
turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo,” or the
mischievous animated alien Stitch make scheduled appearances to chat,
play and joke with kids in live, unrehearsed conversations.

Sometimes using silly props from their digital environments, Crush and
Stitch amaze and entertain children during real-time, personalized
appearances. These magical experiences with Crush and Stitch continue
Disney’s legacy of bringing characters to life in new and incredible ways.

Enchanted Art
Throughout the Disney Dream, guests will encounter Enchanted Art that
immerses guests in Disney storytelling in a completely new way.
Appearing as traditional framed art, Enchanted Art magically comes alive
when guests pause to admire the artwork. Enchanted Art will carry the
appearance of popular art mediums – photography, oil paintings, paper
sculpture, travel posters and animation cells. In reality though, they
are framed LCD screens made to look like artwork through special effects
and recognizes when a guest is present…which triggers the animated
sequence. Guests may see new and different animations each time they
come back and visit the Enchanted Art pieces.

In addition, the Enchanted Art is used as part of a one-of-a-kind
detective themed adventure where guests of all ages join a ship-wide
quest to find either stolen artwork or missing puppies. By using a
simple card that serves as a high-tech detective device, guests can peer
behind virtual canvases and discover clues that will lead them to solve
the mystery and capture the villain responsible. A self-paced adventure,
the game offers six potential villains and features randomized events so
each time a guest plays they will encounter a different and unique
gaming experience.

Virtual Porthole
The Disney Dream carries on the spirit of innovation with a cruise
industry first for all inside staterooms. Virtual Portholes offer a
“window” to the world with a real-time view outside the ship.
High-definition cameras placed on the exterior of the ship feed live
video to each Virtual Porthole. The live video feed corresponds to the
stateroom location – with a view to port, starboard, forward or aft.

As guests are observing the outside views, they may glimpse a magical
surprise: animated characters may pop by the Virtual Porthole.
Characters may include Peach the starfish from the Disney•Pixar film
“Finding Nemo,” the flying balloon house from “UP” or even Mickey Mouse.

On Goofy’s Sports Deck, the magic tees off on deck 13 with Goofy’s Golf – a miniature golf course where “lessons” featuring Goofy and his son, Max, lead guests through nine themed holes of wacky fun. ■AquaDuck stretches 765 feet in length - more than two and a half times the length of a football field - and spans four decks in height.

Only on a Disney Cruise Line ship can children become immersed in their favorite Disney stories with the help of caring counselors, beloved Disney characters and a sprinkling of pixie dust. The celebration of children’s creativity rises to a new level on the Disney Dream with nearly an entire deck of youth spaces designed to inspire, entertain and unlock the imagination of children. At Disney’s Oceaneer Club, children can:

■Play among larger-than-life characters from Disney•Pixar's "Toy Story" in Andy's Room
■Explore the Laugh Floor with loveable monsters Mike and Sully from "Monsters, Inc."
■Dive under the sea with Nemo and friends or visit Tinker Bell's fairy forest


At Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, children feel as though they are embarking on a great seafaring adventure in a room filled with maps, maritime instruments and swashbuckling artifacts. Here, children can try their hand at animation, become a pop star or navigate ships through digital seas.

Both venues offer magical interactions with the animated characters such as Crush, the sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo” and Stitch, the mischievous alien from “Lilo and Stitch.” The characters chat, play and joke with children in live, unrehearsed conversations from their digital undersea and intergalactic environments via 103-inch plasma screens.

Chill-Out Zones for Tweens and Teens. . .

Located inside the forward funnel is Edge – the lounge just for tweens (ages 11 to 13). This tween pad is filled with a multitude of hi-tech entertainment including the ability to create and star in photo postcards and video karaoke using green-screen technology.

Teens have their own exclusive club aboard the Disney Dream with Vibe – a trendy and inviting indoor/outdoor space created especially for guests ages 14 to 17. A “teen-only” swipe card provides access to the nearly 9,000-square-foot club.

Teens can create and edit videos, play computer games, access the onboard social media application or try their hand at spinning and mixing dance tracks. Teens have their own private outdoor deck area with chaise lounges for sunbathing, two wading pools, misters and pop jets for cooling off, and deck games such as ping-pong and foosball.

Personal Touches with Rotational Dining. . .

Disney Cruise Line continues its innovative rotational dining concept onboard the Disney Dream with elaborately themed restaurants, distinctly Disney touches, and world-class cuisine to create a magical dining experience. Throughout the cruise, guests “rotate” through three different restaurants for dinner – with their servers accompanying them, providing guests with friendly, familiar, personalized service each night. The rotational dining restaurants include:

■ Animator's Palate, a signature Disney Cruise Line restaurant that brings the magic of Disney animation into the dining room for a unique experience that will captivate the entire family.
■Royal Palace, an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films "Cinderella," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," " Beauty and the Beast" and "Sleeping Beauty."
■Enchanged Garden, a whimsical casual restaurant inspired by the gardens of Versailles and featuring a dining environment that magically transforms from day to night.

Just for Adults. . .

On the Disney Dream, while children are having the time of their lives in the elaborately themed youth areas, adults can look forward to incomparable indulgences and relaxation with exclusive areas and offerings designed exclusively for them.

■Adults can escape in to The District, a nighttime entertainment area on the Disney Dream with five unique venues. This playground for grownups features sophisticated lounges, each with its own unique design, look, feel and palate-pleaseing delights.
■Senses Spa & Salon offers adult tranquility with 17 private treatment rooms, lavish spa villas with indoor treatment rooms and private outdoor verandahs, and Rainforest, a special section of the spa offering the benefits of steam, heat and hydrotherapy to relax the mind and body.
■At Palo, adult guests find epicurean excellence and an unforgettable dinner experience at sea. Every seat offers beautiful ocean vistas while a pianist softly serenades guests in an intimate restaurant setting.
The Disney Dream is scheduled to depart on its maiden voyage Jan. 26, 2011, and will sail alternating three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. During summer months, the ship will alternate four- and five-night itineraries with two stops at Castaway Cay. Guests can book their Disney Dream cruise beginning Nov. 9, 2009.

Disney Announces Names of New Ships

(March 10, 2009) – Today at the 2009 Annual Meeting of Shareholders of The Walt Disney Company, Disney announced the names of the company’s two new cruise ships.

“Last week, steel cutting began on our next two Disney cruise ships. Today I’m pleased to announce their names,” said Robert A. Iger, Disney president and CEO. “The Disney Dream will set sail in 2011, while the Disney Fantasy will hit the high seas in 2012.”

Similar to the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the names were chosen to celebrate Disney’s unique heritage of creating enchanting places and stories where dreams really do come true.
